本科未成年人 in the College of Health Sciences and Professions

Sometimes your interests take you just beyond your field. Sometimes they lead to entirely new perspectives. You can make the first step happen here. The College of Health Sciences and Professions offers a number of certificate programs and minors to enhance students' experiences. These programs do not require a student to be in a major in the College.

Applied Nutrition Minor

  • Designed for students interested in strengthening their knowledge of nutrition and applications.
  • Includes basic nutrition knowledge to help others identify reliable sources of nutrition information.

Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences Minor

  • Relevant to students with almost any major.
  • Provides an introduction to communication disorders, an inherently interdisciplinary field. Few academic or clinical realms are unrelated to hearing, speech, and language sciences.
  • Fosters learning related to communication sciences and the normal processes of human communication.
  • Students wishing to pursue graduate studies in any clinical field can develop a good foundation through this minor. Even those without professional interests related to communication disorders can benefit from an improved appreciation of issues related to a host of vital human communication issues that affect their everyday lives.

Environmental Health Science Minor

  • Particularly appropriate to science majors, such as biological sciences and chemistry, but other majors such as communications, 社会科学, and plant science may also fit in well with this offering.
  • Overall purpose is to enhance the practical application of the student's primary degree.
  • Occupational hygiene and safety majors are not eligible for the environmental health science minor.

Community and Public Health Minor

  • Relevant for students who want to increase their knowledge about public health; complements all health-related degrees.
  • Provides an introduction to epidemiology, 需求评估, program planning and evaluation in public health.
  • Students will learn how to assess the health needs or a particular individual(s), design an appropriate intervention (health program) to be responsive to those identified needs, implement the intervention and evaluate it to determine if it was successful.

Health Services Administration Minor

社会服务未成年人

  • For students wishing to expand their understanding of the 社会 work field and how 社会 workers and agencies function.
  • Provides students knowledge of the ways that 社会 work improves well-being for individuals, 家庭, 组, organizations and communities.
  • Students will also become informed on 社会 work values of excelling in teaching scholarship, and service; 社会 and economic justice; dignity and worth of all persons; the importance of human relationships; integrity; and competence.
